2021 - Save the Date (7/01/21)

SAVE THE DATE (7/1/2021)

It's closing in on the official start of summer, the 4th of July weekend - here's to spending time with family and friends, celebrating our country's 245th birthday!

And with the summer off to a great start, isn't it only natural we should start talking about how to best end the summer?  This brings us to the 44th annual Yukon Jack, which will take place the weekend of Thursday, September 23rd through Sunday, the 26th.

Looking forward to seeing all of you at Glenbrook, this last full weekend in September, ready to enjoy the best part of the summer at the lake. We'll have great weather, fewer people to deal with and sunsets on the boat with Van, to look forward to.

Once again, many, many thanks to the Adams and Cook families for allowing us to once again enjoy their hospitality. It is deeply appreciated and we are humbled by their kindness.

In comparison to last year, we have a tremendous weekend of great sports scheduled, including;

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Across  the rest of the county...a few good games, like Tennessee @ Florida, LSU @ Mississippi State, SMU @ TCU...the rest of the schedule currently reads like The Sisters of the Poor @ Alabama

 In the PAC-12 (All Times TBD)

     - Cal @ Washington

     - UCLA @ Stanford

     - Arizona @ Oregon

     - Oregon State @ USC

     - Washington State @ Utah

     - Colorado @ ASU

NFL

The Thursday game is an epic matchup of Panthers at the Texans...zzzzzzzzzzzz

On Sunday

      - Dolphins visit Las Vegas to take on the Raiders

      - Packers come to SF to take on the 49'ers.

BASEBALL

In the Major Leagues, the Bay Area is an embarrassment of riches. Both teams are squarely in the playoff hunt, and that weekend, BOTH teams are at home!

 - The pesky Giants have the Padres on Thursday, then the Rockies come to Oracle for Fri/Sat/Sun,

 - The (insert another word for pesky) A's entertain Seattle on Thursday, then a showdown with the Astro's over the weekend.

GOLF

Fittingly for a Yuke weekend, the 43rd Ryder Cup will be televised from Whistling Straits GC. For those of us who have fond memories of watching the Sunday matches in 1999 from Brookline, and Justin Leonard's epic putt, this is something to look forward to.

Gentlemen, if it's anything like '99, get your excuses ready as for why you were late coming down the hill...

For the weekend itself, we're still planning on all of the Yuke traditions - Wet Woodies on Thursday, sunset cocktails on Friday, golf on Saturday, as 2020 champion george roeth defends his title…

There will also be great dinners, conversations on the deck, a bike ride along the way, the threat of climbing to the top of Shakespeare, Buck ‘em ‘til dawn…and all of the other wonderful trappings we all look forward to each year.

In other words, another great weekend in paradise, as we renew these unique bonds of friendship.

As of now, there will be no COVID-related conditions in place at the house over the weekend, so it's business as usual for the Yuke. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. But if you want to sport the fashionable and practical YUKON JACK mask from last year's Banducci collection, you're more than welcome to!

At this point in time, if you know one way or another if you can/can't make it, send the commish an email (use the button above) and let me know what you're thinking.

Of course, all responses are written in pencil until a few weeks out, but it never hurts to get a first pass at who might be attending. I'll send out another blast in August to get a better sense of who's in and who's out.

Let me know if you're;

 - PLANNING ON ATTENDING or UNABLE TO MAKE IT

 - IN FOR GOLF ON SATURDAY (Course TBD)

Hope our paths can cross between now and late September, but if not, looking forward to seeing you all up at the lake!

Until then, the next round is on Horn…

Flip the last card,
